Inspired by a journal entry by `gilad I got myself a Hoya R72 infrared filter. While I'm still waiting for my new macro lens, I tried this neat little thing and this is one of the very first shots. It's not that special, but the first. An interesting new approach for me.

Comments and criticism are welcome, the processing and manual whitebalance are not perfect yet, I suppose. But I guess that will improve soon.

Thanks a lot for the great feedback!

Nice shot, I love the wintery tones. :)
I saw that original shot and was curious as to how that filter works. I'll have to check it out. Very neat and clean shot.

I really like it, reminds me of winter yet the water is untouched.
it filters out nearly all visible light, the R72 cuts off the spectrum below 720 nm. So basically you only get the infrared light on the sensor.

That is very, very cool. My new camera (Canon Digital Rebel!! :D) should be hear on Monday or Tuesday and a Hoya R72 filter is going to be the first thing I buy for it.
